What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Like most website operators, Tapping Courage collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Tapping Courage’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use this website. From time to time, Tapping Courage may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
The Data concerning the User is collected to allow Tapping Courage to provide its Services, as well as for the following purposes: Contacting the User, Interaction with external social networks and platforms, Analytics, Displaying content from external platforms, Managing contacts and sending messages and Interaction with data collection platforms and other third parties.
Users can find further detailed information about such purposes of processing and about the specific Personal Data used for each purpose in the respective sections of this document.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information: Comments, Contact Forms, Media
Certain visitors to the Tapping Courage website choose to interact with Tapping Courage in ways that require Tapping Courage to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who comment on our blog to provide a username and email address. Those who wish to receive Tapping Courage gifts and updates via email, we collect their emails. In each case, Tapping Courage collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Tapping Courage. Tapping Courage does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Tapping Courage only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.
Comments and other content submitted to Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on our servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case we store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
